Activity Mornings
We had 10 activity mornings in August, which were very successful. The mornings were sports
orientated without involving the karate discipline, so there was something for everybody. The
students made new friends with students from other karate days and also with some non-karate
friends. The Anstee brothers attended all 10 sessions so they deserve a medal just for that and we
also had fun with the Girls Aloud crowd from the Fraser-Hitchen family. We plan to hold these
again during October half term so if you are interested please contact us.
Demonstration
Thank you to all our students who supported the demonstration for Frimley Park Hospital at the
Grove School on Saturday 9th September. The standard of the karate was excellent. To top our
demonstration they needed to do something spectacular and indeed they did by asking 5
parachutists to parachute into the grounds after us. It was great watching them and how they
twirled to get into position to land on a big cross in the middle of the field. With all the money
going to support patient care at the hospital it was an afternoon for a good cause and we hope you
enjoyed it.
Recent Grading
The grading held on Monday 11th September between 4 and 6 pm proved again that the Dojo has
an excellent standard. All eight students eligible to grade once again rose to the occasion and
passed with flying colours. Depending on age and frequency of training a 1 Mon advancement is
a good pass putting a coloured stripe on your belt. A 2 Mon or higher Mon advancement is an
excellent pass putting an even higher coloured stripe on your belt, so congratulations and well
done to the following students:
Aaran Fraser-Hitchen
9th Kyu 2 Mon - (Yellow belt with green stripe)
Harry Davies
Reece Southworth
Kyle McManus
9th Kyu - (Yellow belt)
Richard Evans
10th Kyu 3 Mon - (White belt with black stripe)
Connor Fraser-Hitchen
Jake Richardson-Harvey
Rees Thomas
10th Kyu 2 Mon - (White belt with blue stripe)
at least a minimum of 18 attendances. This does mean that between gradings you may have
attended a lot more!
We hope to have at least one more grading this year and maybe two if Sensei Akamine over from
Okinawa is able to train with us in October. Watch this space and we will keep you informed.
Monthly Fees
From October the monthly fee will mean exactly that, a fee for the month. If you miss a session
during the month then you can make it up on a different day during the same month. There will
be no carry over from month to month as this is difficult to administer and twice during August
we turned up without one student to teach, but still had to pay for the hall! You can still pay the
daily fee if preferred.
Licensing
Thank you for all the efforts in getting your licences up to date as this is very important. For
those that still need to apply we suggest that all forms are returned to us so that we can record and
deal with your application. This will save you on postage and also keep our own records up to
date.
Updated Records
Talking about keeping records up to date, remember if you move or change your mobile number
then please let us know so that our records are kept up to date especially if we need to contact you
for any emergencies.
Dojo ClosedThe dojo will be closed during the week commencing 25th September. |
