03-Sep-2007: September 2007 Newsletter
Welcome Back We hope you all had a very nice summer holiday and that you actually found the sun somewhere! Unfortunately our GKI Summer Gasshuku was not to be as we were unable to get to Sweden due to some personal circumstances, but understand the event went very well. Students of the Month
Because student numbers are always down during the summer months there was no newsletter issued, therefore this month we need two students of the month. This was another tough decision, as we had to cast our mind back to July for the nominations of July student of the month. One person we can look back on and taking into account overall performance in the dojo and the effort he has put in the nomination for July Student of the month is:
Jonathan Anstee Congratulations to Jonathan. We remember when Jonathan first came to the dojo as one of our original students and since that time Jonathan knows that he can be a bit laid back, but the last few months he has worked very hard and the effort is paying off. His techniques are looking crisp and the power is starting to come, well done Jonathan and keep it up. The second tough decision this month was who to nominate for August with so many of you on holiday. Taking into consideration his commitment to the club and being one of our original members the nomination for August Student of the month is:
Richard Evans Congratulations to Richard. The reward for all his hard work he has put into his karate. Being tall is never easy in karate and especially dealing with it at a young age. Well done to Richard and keep up the good work. Grading
Don’t forget the next grading is on Wednesday 5th September 2007 between 5 and 7 pm. Please note that the actual lesson for Wednesday will be between 4 and 5 pm. This has been done because the classes have increased in size and we cannot teach a lesson and grade at the same time. To grade you will need a current licence and the proper attire. An examination fee of £10.00 is charged and this will provide an exchanged belt and certification. If you like to keep your existing belt then the cost for a new belt is £4.00. For eligibility please see Sensei Andre or Sensei Daphne. Okinawan Trip
Senseis’ Andre and Daphne are off to Okinawa, Yippee! This is to compete in the Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Shinko Kai tournament on Sunday September 23rd 2007. The tournament is held in Okinawa every year. Senseis’ Andre and Daphne will be also be training before the tournament and taking in karate training whilst in Okinawa. As this is our holiday, we will be training, training and more training! The Dojo will be closed during the following inclusive dates, from Friday 14th September to Monday 8th October 2007. Dojo will reopen at the normal times from Tuesday 9th October 2007. Payment of the September fee will also count towards your October fees. Anyone paying on direct debit will be refunded as necessary. |
