Student of the Month

Once again for this newsletter we need to nominate two students for the Student of the

Month award. Taking into account overall performance in the dojo and at the recent

grading the nominations are:

September student of the month is:

Aaran Fraser-Hitchen

Congratulations to Aaran, who put in a great performance at the recent grading and will

no doubt achieve a lot more from his karate because of his character and determination.

October student of the month is:

Aqeel Hussain

Congratulations to Aqeel, because we know he has not found karate easy but continues to

try very hard and we are beginning to see things click into place. As one of our original

students it is good to see Aqeel progressing slowly at his own pace and just enjoying the

classes. Well done Aqeel keep it up.

Tesco Sport Vouchers

We know it is a late request again as we were in Okinawa when the promotion started,

but if anybody has any of the Tesco Sport vouchers left then please hand them in to us

because as a club we are able to cash these in for sports equipment.

Okinawa

Thank you for all the positive support given to us on our trip to Okinawa. Holiday, who

said holiday, as we trained or preformed every day for three weeks! We competed in our

first Okinawan Kobudo tournament, was asked to demonstrate at a traditional Okinawan

wedding, trained with our icon Morio Higaonna Sensei whom in September 2007 was

recently promoted to 10th Dan and we were also graded to Nidan (2nd Degree black belt)

in Kobudo. When we have a few moments spare we will post an account and photos on

the web site.

Dates for your Diary

This newsletter comes at the end of an extremely busy couple of months. First we had the

grading, then we went to Okinawa and upon our return we have been very busy with first

aid courses for SECAMB. We still need some dates for your diary:

GKI Winter Gasshuku

The GKI winter Gasshuku will be held from Friday 30th November to Sunday 2nd

December 2007. All students are welcome and details can be found on the GKI web
site
www.gki.org.uk.

Monday December 10th 2007

Don’t forget this is the next grading date and it is approaching fast. Junior grades will

grade between 5 and 6 pm, with senior grades between 6 and 7 pm. To grade you will

need a current licence and the proper attire. The examination fee is £10.00 for exchange

belt and certification. For eligibility please see Sensei Andre or Sensei Daphne.
