General News
We are now well into the first quarter of the new year and a number of students have attended EGKA courses. Sensei
Andre and Sensei Daphne have also taken part in all courses to date in
an effort to fully promote our dojo within the new association. The 2010 calendar is packed with events for both children and adults, kyu and Dan grades. For more information go to the EGKA website at www.egka.org.uk or our own website at www.cmafa.co.uk

Jack Warner
****************************
Jack’s karate has steadily improved over the last six months both in kata and kumite. His
current good standard has not come easily to him, but is the result of a
determined effort to raise his level to new heights. Well done Jack and your recent success at the inter dojo competition was not unexpected to us and well deserved. Keep up the good work.

Ben Weyman
****************************
Ben is another student who has gone the extra mile in his efforts to improve his karate and move forward with his next kata. He even continued his practice at home in order to be able to enter the inter dojo competition performing his next grading kata. Again his success came as no surprise to us. He is an attentive student and always gives 100% during lessons. Well done Ben and keep up the good work.
Inter Dojo Competition
On Sunday 28th February we held a children’s tournament at the Paddock Hill Dojo with Tooting and North Surrey dojos. It was a friendly, low key, tournament designed to help the children grow in confidence, especially when performing in front of an audience. This
is not as easy as it looks and it takes a good deal of spirit to focus
on complicated katas in a noisy and packed environment. The
experience will also go a long way towards preparing the children for
gradings, as well as giving them the opportunity to meet other like
minded children from different dojos.
The children who took part in the competition were:
Richard
Evans, Bradley Anstee, Steven Brown, Jack Warner, Rajan Dhesi, Heather
Gambon, Jonathan Anstee, Luke Elson, Daniel Anstee, Sian Elson, Emma
Wiltshire, Elliot McCarthy, Aman Dhesi, Zak Portlock-Thorogood, Aqeel
Hussain, Oliver Lapworth, Ben Weyman.
Well done all of you. We are very proud of you all and thank you for supporting and promoting your dojo. Our thanks also extends to all the parents who helped us in whatever manner to make the day go smoothly for the children. Achievement Badges
After discussion with
both the parents and children we have decided to embrace an achievement
badge system which we hope will encourage the children to continue to
strive in karate. The
younger children especially take much longer to achieve new colour belts
and we feel that this idea will continue to remind them of just how
much they are actually improving. The badge folders are a one off price of £5.00 and thereafter each badge attained will cost £1.00. Badge
nights will take place on the last Monday and Wednesday of every month
and the Senseis will select 2 badges that it is possible to attain
during the lesson. The teaching for these sessions will, of course, focus around the type of badges that have been selected. The first badge lessons are Monday 29th and Wednesday 31st March.
One further note on this subject: Please do not sew these badges on to your current gi. This should have the IOGKF badge on it ONLY. We suggest either sticking them in your folders, or, sewing them on to a sweatshirt, or old gi that you have grown out of.
Tesco Vouchers for Schools and Clubs
Thank you for the donations to date and please keep them coming if you do not have other uses for them. We always use these vouchers to buy equipment for the dojo.
Bubble Wrap
Also any redundant bubble wrap, or small boxes are always gratefully received. We have a Kimmidoll website and we try to ensure that all our packaging to our customers is derived from recycled material.
