Sponsored Techniques
On Monday 26th February the Dojo completed a sponsored 2007 karate techniques. This was to raise funds and make a donation to the Peter Lynham Memorial Fund. The event was gruelling for all those that took part especially for the whole 2 hours, but it was all good practice for the grading on the following Monday. A total of £158.50 was raised so thank you all for a great effort.

Student of the Month

February student of the month is: -

Steven Brown

Congratulations to Steven. He joined Paddock Hill Dojo on the very first day we opened on Monday 3rd April 2005. Within six weeks he was entering the GKI annual competition as a white belt and won two medals. Now a year on and Steven is really enjoying his karate. With plenty of natural ability, his eagerness to learn and some hard work, Steven will be a good karate-ka into the future.

Peter Lynham
In support of Sensei Pete and Mary Thompson we attended the open day in memory of Peter Lynham on Saturday 10th March 2007. This was an event open to the public with several demonstrations carried out during a full afternoon programme. All proceeds raised were in honour of Peter and donated to the Peter Lynham Memorial Fund. On the day we donated the £158.50 raised at the sponsored event held at the Dojo with the fund already over £6,000.00. In a touching tribute to close the event the Shodan grade that Peter missed out on in Cape Town due to dislocating his knee 5 minutes before taking his grading was posthumously awarded by Sensei Pete to Peter’s sister Kirsty Lynham.

Class Time Change
Tuesday 20th March 2007 the class will be moved from a 4 pm start to a 5 pm start and finish at 6 pm. We apologise but have again been asked to assess first aid.

GKI Competition Date
The annual GKI 2007 competition will be held on Sunday 29th April at Bourne Leisure Centre, Southbourne, near Chichester. Registration will be at 10.00am with the event aiming to finish by 5.30pm. All members are welcome to compete regardless of grade.
