Demonstration

Sunday July 8th 2007

On Sunday 8th July the children demonstrated their skills at the Frimley Green Carnival.

It consisted of a 15 minute slot where we let the members do the talking with their skills

learnt over the past 15 months.  We think it was one of the best demonstrations to date 

and for all of those involved thank you very much for your support.

Student of the Month

It was another tough decision this month for the nominations of June student of the

month. However in the end there is one person we can look back on and taking into 

account overall performance in the dojo, at the GKI Championships and during the 

recent June grading the nomination for June Student of the month is: 

         Luke Elson

Congratulations to Luke. We remember when Luke first started at the dojo and he 

continually stated, “I can’t do that” Since that time and starting in quite an advanced class

whereby students were coming twice sometimes three times a week, he has developed 

immensely. So much so that Luke was confident enough to enter the GKI annual 

tournament this year and has closed the gap on those senior students. We never hear him

use that “can’t” word now as he just throws himself into all the activities and tries very

hard in every department. Very well done Luke.

GKI Summer Gasshuku

Senseis’ Andre and Daphne will be training at the GKI annual Gasshuku in Sweden 2nd 

to 5th August 2007. 

Please note that the dojo will be closed Monday 6th August and Tuesday 7th August for

both kids and adult sessions while we have a couple of extra days in Sweden for some 

Rest and Relaxation.

Summer Holidays

Apart from the two days listed above the dojo will be open throughout the school summer

holidays. If the children are away for their own summer holiday please remember that 

they can make up for any lost days by coming on a different day throughout the summer 

holidays. Just let Sensei know when you are away and we can remind you about catching 

up.

Drinks

A quick reminder to remember that children are not good at maintaining their temperature

levels and this sometimes leads to headaches and overheating. Please ensure that the 

children have plenty of drink with them especially during the summer months. We will 

ensure that there are plenty of drink breaks. 

Monthly Subscriptions

Just a quick note on the monthly subscriptions in as much that is exactly what they are. 

If you go on your two weeks summer holiday please remember to pay your monthly 

subscriptions. Any days you are off we have always encouraged you to make up, 

preferably during the same month. If it does not work this year we may have to consider 

closing the dojo throughout school holidays as we cannot afford to pay for the hall with 

only one or two students turning up and no subscriptions coming in.

Wednesday September 5th 2007

Note the change to the next karate grading will be held on Wednesday 5th September

2007.

Sunday September 23rd 2007

The Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Shinko Kai tournament will be held in Okinawa on Sunday 

23rd September 2007. Senseis’ Andre and Daphne will be training and competing at the 

tournament. Dojo closure dates will follow.
