Demonstrations

How times flies, here we are nearing the end of school term and in the summer months getting

ready for a number of summer events: -

Saturday July 8th 2006

The first is at the request of The Grove School PTA in Frimley.  They have asked us to do a

demonstration at the school fete and we feel sure you will want to show off all the new skills you

have learnt over the last two months.  For those of you that will be demonstrating on behalf of the

dojo we will be meeting up just inside The Grove School Chobham Road side gate on 8th July at

1.15 pm.  We have a 10 – 15 minute slot and will be covering general items that we have

practiced in the dojo during lesson times, so, no pressure, go out and enjoy the demonstration

which will be at 2.00 pm.

Sunday July 9th 2006

The following day on Sunday Dr Tony Moore and the Frimley Green Carnival Committee have

also confirmed that we have a 15 minute slot to again demonstrate our skills at the Frimley Green

Carnival.  For those of you that will be demonstrating on behalf of the dojo at this event we will

be meeting up on the main roadside of The Green, in Frimley Green on 9th July at 12.45 pm.  We

have a 10 – 15 minute slot and will again just be covering general items that we have practiced in

the dojo during lesson times, so, go out and enjoy the demonstration which will be at 1.30 pm.

Grading

Our first grading will be on Monday 17th July 2006 between 4 and 6 pm.  We intend to have

another date to grade in September to recognise and promote the efforts of our newer students. To

grade you will need a current licence and the proper attire. A minimum 18 attendance is required

before a grading will even be considered.  An examination fee of £10.00 is payable on the day in

addition to the training fee, which will include a new belt and certification if the student is

successful.

Licensing

We suggest that after one months training and with a few lessons behind your child that you apply

for the GKI licence book and annual licence.  This allows a student to compete and grade within

the association.  The licence in conjunction with Karate England, our governing body, will also

give the student insurance cover and allow them to compete in any Karate England open

tournament.  We suggest that all applications for licensing are returned to us so that we can record

and deal with your application.  The licence form has now been updated to reflect this change and

will save you postage.

Price Reduction

Following the formation of the club and confirmation of our instructors’ positions within the club

we have been able to increase our discount on some of the equipment for sale.  To this end, we

have ensured that this discount is passed on, however, recently the company we deal with have

removed an additional discount given for ordering on-line and therefore some prices have

increased slightly.  We apologise for this, but we can assure you that the small profit made from

selling these items is going back towards the equipment used within the dojo and will benefit all

the children.

Summer Term

Please make a note that at present we are intending to keep the dojo open and train throughout the

summer months during the holidays. However it would be very helpful if you could let us know

when your child is on holiday for attendance purposes.
