17-Dec-2007: December 2007 Newsletter
Date for your Diary
Don’t forget the most
important event of the year - the Kids Christmas party - on Wednesday
19th December between 5 and 7 pm. This is free of charge to all our
karate members. It will have some fun and games like all good parties
and we will look back over the dojo year. The Dojo is closed after the
Christmas party until Wednesday 2nd January 2008 at 5 pm, please see the
events link for more detail. Some mums have already volunteered help
with the foods so thank you and a food list is circulating much like the
ones for help with the schools?
Unless you have a very good reason we would suggest you be there or be square.

Student of the Month
As this is the end of year
newsletter we need to nominate two students for the Student of the Month
award taking in November and December. Taking into account overall
performance in the dojo and at the recent grading the nominations for
the final pair of the year is a brotherly affair as follows:
November student of the month is:
 Cameron Williams
Congratulations to Cameron,
who put in a great performance at the recent grading and will no doubt
achieve a lot more from his karate because of his quiet determination
and character.
December student of the month is: -
 Jack Williams
Congratulations to Jack,
lights up the dojo when his big personally walks in before him. Being
one of the youngest students in the dojo he has not found karate easy
but continues to try very hard and things will begin to click into place
as he matures. Well done Jack keep it up.
GKI / IOGKF / OTGKA
Following the recent GKI
winter Gasshuku Camberley Martial Arts decided to resign from the GKI
association. We privately made the decision a few weeks ago with heavy
hearts and after much soul searching because it is the friends that we
are leaving behind that is the greatest loss to us after 14 years with
GKI.
We have decided to join the OTGKA with Chief Instructor Sensei George Andrews and also affiliate with Shihan Morio Higaonna (Chief Instructor of IOGKF and holder of the direct Goju Ryu Karate lineage from its founder, Master Chojun Miyagi).
Having trained with Shihan
Morio Higaonna in Okinawa recently this will open up our links direct to
Okinawa and worldwide. There will be minor changes but in essence we
have trained throughout the years to the IOGKF curriculum and see the
move as going back to our roots.
All licences will be honoured until your renewal date. |
