Demonstrations

First of all a big thank you to all our students who supported Camberley Martial Arts with the

demonstrations at the Grove School Fete, the Frimley Green Carnival and at Sandhurst Sports

Centre.  The standard was so high from our students that we  have been ‘head hunted’ and

Frimley Park Hospital has requested our presence at their fete at 15.00 on 9th September.  Please

put the date in your diaries. Our demonstration will be one hour before the paratroopers parachute

into the grounds – so it sounds like a fete to be remembered!  As usual all monies taken at this

fete will be used to support patient care at the hospital.  So a worthy cause, as well as a chance to

display your karate skills to family, friends and the general public.

Recent Grading

Our first grading was held on Monday 17th July 2006 between 4 and 6 pm.  It was a very hot day

and all 6 students who were eligible to grade rose to the occasion and excelled themselves.  The

standard was high and the results reflected this with all students passing higher than the ‘usual’ 2

mon advancement.

Congratulations are extended to the following students – well done boys:

Steven Brown   -  9th kyu 2 mon (yellow belt with green stripe)

Bradley Anstee  -  9th kyu 1 mon (yellow belt with white stripe)

Daniel Anstee  -  9th kyu 1 mon (yellow belt with white stripe)

Jonathan Anstee  -  9th kyu (yellow belt)

Connor Goldson  -  10th kyu 3 mon (white belt with black stripe)

Andrew Brown  -  10th kyu 3 mon (white belt with black stripe)

The Next Grading

The next grading to recognise and promote the efforts of our newer students will be held on

Monday 11th September from 4-6 p.m. at Frimley Community Centre.  Those children who

regularly attend a 4-5 p.m. time slot only will grade from 4-5 p.m.  Older students who also attend

5-6 p.m. time slots will grade from 4-6 p.m.  To grade students will need a current licence and the

proper attire. A minimum of 18 attendances is  required before a grading will even be considered. An examination fee of £10.00 is payable on the day in addition to the training fee.  A new belt

and certificate is provided if the student is successful.  Eligible students for grading will be

notified nearer the time.

School Holidays

The dojo will be open for training throughout the school summer holidays and, in addition, we

have organised 10 activity mornings for August.  The dates and times are as follows:

1st, 3rd, 8th, 10th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, 24th, 29th 31st August from 09.00 – 12.00.  The cost of each

session is £6.50 for karate members and £7.50  if you bring a friend.

Please ask for the ‘Activity Days’ leaflet for further details.

Senseis ‘Holidays’

We are planning a couple of ‘breaks’ in September.

The first will be 4th – 8th September inclusive.  We will be attending an instructors course for First

Aid in Warminster, so will be unable to start the sessions at 4.00 p.m.  Childrens’ sessions will

therefore take place from 06.00 – 07.00 p.m. on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of that

week.

Secondly, we will be closed the week of the 25th September as we are competing, judging and

training at the 2006 Go-ju Ryu Goodwill Martial Arts Festival & World Championships in Cape

Town, South Africa.

Parents who pay monthly are welcome to make up the training days during the month.
